ALF CALLS FOR LEASING AND RENTING TO BE INCLUDED IN ELECTRIC MOBILITY TRANSITION PLAN

The Portuguese Association of Leasing, Factoring and Renting (ALF) congratulates the government on the approval of a system to encourage the scrapping of vehicles, promoting the purchase of electric vehicles, at the Council of Ministers on October 4, 2024. This measure represents an important step towards accelerating the energy transition and renewing the car fleet in Portugal.

ALF stresses the importance of this initiative being inclusive, covering all forms of access to mobility. Leasing and renting, which account for about 30% of vehicles purchased in Portugal, play a crucial role both in renewing the car fleet and in implementing sustainable mobility solutions. These instruments, widely used by companies and individuals, are indispensable to the success of the challenge facing the country in the transition to greener and more efficient mobility.

ALF will be meeting with the Secretary of State for Mobility to raise awareness of the importance of including leasing and renting in this program, reiterating its commitment to collaborating with the government in promoting solutions that make electric mobility an accessible and sustainable reality for all.
